Our Philosophy
We are a modern law firm but we practice in the old fashioned sense of being our clients trusted legal advisors for a wide variety of areas of law. We are a small firm, able to bill reasonably for our services, but the breadth of our experience and knowledge will surprise you. When you present us with a legal issue, we can analyze the entire picture and present you with effective, alternative strategies, rather than addressing just one narrow issue of law. We provide high quality, creative and cost-effective legal service.

We are proud of the fact that we have represented individual plaintiffs as well as defendants, and a wide range of businesses from startups to mid stage companies, from limited partnerships to corporations.
Our Management
Terri Mandel has over twenty-seven years experience as a lawyer, primarily a litigator with extensive first chair trial experience, and administrative experience as a member of the management team of a large law firm, and, for the past ten years, the owner of her own law firm handling commercial transactions, litigation in a wide variety of legal subjects, and intellectual property matters. She has impeccable credentials, having begun her career as an award winning law student and chief editor of the Law Review, then becoming the law clerk to Chief Justice Douglas Amdahl of the Minnesota Supreme Court. Terri has obtained precedent setting motion practice, settlements, and trial victories nationwide in environmental, product liability, insurance, class actions, and franchise disputes. A trained mediator, and a licensed securities arbitrator, Terri successfully employs those skills to resolve disputes expeditiously. She has served on the Board of Governors of the Minnesota State Bar and chaired important committees on Ethics and Gender Equity.
As an added advantage, Terri is also a small business owner, as one of the founders of TJS Consulting, a licensing agency that represents several famous artists, and the parent of a pioneering virtual tradeshow called Simply Licensed that gained a vast worldwide audience where, for 5 years, hundreds of artists exhibited their work to potential licensees, and generated long lasting deals in the process. She thus brings to her small business, licensing and entertainment clients, her entrepreneurial bent and a depth of hands on experience in negotiations, problem solving, and best business practices.
TJS Consulting is run by co-owner/founder Steve Mandel, an attorney with an MBA and a background of in-house licensing experience. Steve provides business management, contracts, and licensing consulting services to the law firm, as well.
Of Note
In 2005, her alma mater Hamline University School of Law presented Ms. Mandel with the Distinguished Alumni Award for "exemplifying Hamline's commitment to ethical leadership and service." Terri and her daughter, Jodi, are proud to have been the first mother-daughter alums of Hamline University School of Law, from which Terri's son, Steven, also obtained his J.D.
We are members of: the California Bar, the Georgia Bar and the Minnesota Bar including both State and Federal courts and have appeared pro hac vice (temporary status) in Courts across the country as well.
